NCT Launch New Website

Nottingham City Transport launched its brand new website today, introducing several new features to make travelling by bus even easier and significantly increasing bandwidth to meet growing customer demand.
Joining the full range of maps, timetables and fares information, the new NCT website – www.nctx.co.uk – now also has:

  • personalised route specific pages where customers can access all they need to know about their routes in one easy place
  • improved news and disruption reporting where customers will be kept up-to-date 24/7 about any problems with their services
  • an interactive Journey Planner where customers can browse, search and move around a map of the full NCT network
  • an online shop where customers can buy NCT merchandise and products

Visitor numbers to the NCT website have been growing significantly over the past two years, to the point where the website has been unavailable on some occasions because it is too popular. This growth has also been seen on Facebook, where NCT has nearly 8,400 fans, making it the most popular UK Bus Operator on Facebook.

To meet demand, website hosting has now transferred to local company Proweb, who have supported NCT by offering a package which will ensure website availability is maximised at all times. This will help customers over the winter period that need information about their bus routes if it snows and roads are closed.

Anthony Carver-Smith, NCT Marketing Manager commented,

Our website has seen phenomenal growth in the past year with more and more customers going online to plan a journey, top up their Easyrider Citycard and find out about any disruptions to their bus service.

He continued, “The bad weather earlier this year really drove home the importance of having a strong online presence which is regularly updated and our new features will ensure Nottingham City Transport continues to provide extensive information for customers whenever they demand it”.

The new website has been designed by Eleanor Seelig, who has worked closely with NCT for many years and designed the former site.
