Network Improvements – September 2011

Sunday 4th September 2011 sees further improvements to services on our network including:

  • Buses from every 15 minutes Monday to Saturday daytimes on the Brown Line 15, 16 and Purple Line 87, 88
  • A new circular route around Top Valley and Warren Hill for Purple Line 88, including the reinstatement of full evening and Sunday services
  • Brand new, wheelchair accessible midi-buses running on the 15, 16, 87* and 88*
  • More buses on Unilink 4 to Clifton NTU Campus and Unilink 31 to Jubilee Campus
  • New school journeys and services for Trinity, Bluecoat, Christ the King and the Girls Academy

There are also minor timetable changes to other services and City Centre stop movements for the 10, L13 and L14.

New timetables can be downloaded online under each service below and new timetable leaflets will be in our Travel Centre from week commencing 8th August for Brown and Purple line services and the following week for other services.

Changes to services are:

Unilink 4: NTU Clifton Campus > NTU City Campus

The timetable is significantly enhanced, with buses running every 8 minutes during busy morning and afternoon periods.

Green Line 5: Gamston > City Loop

On Mondays to Fridays, the 05:25 and 06:25 from City to Gamston will run 5 minutes later, to provide better connections for staff travelling to Lings Bar Hospital.

Go2 Green Line 10: Ruddington > City Loop

At Broad Marsh Collin Street, buses to Ruddington will move to the previous stop, C2, to share the same stop as the 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 to West Bridgford.

Brown Line 15: Bestwood > City Centre

The 15 will follow the current route between the City Centre, Hucknall Road, Gainsford Crescent and Arnold Road, where it will then operate a one way loop along Hartcroft Road, Beckhampton Road passing Oxclose Lane Police Station and back on to Arnold Road to terminate at Torbay Crescent (the former Bestwood Library site).

Buses will run more frequently during Monday to Saturday daytimes, with a bus every 15 minutes. In the evenings and on Sundays, buses will continue to run every hour.

Buses to the City from Chippenham Road, Queen’s Bower Road, Ridgeway and Old Farm Road will be provided by Purple Line 88.

Customers from Gainsford Crescent and Arnold Road who need to travel to Rise Park should catch the 15 to Oxclose Lane Police Station and cross the road to change on to Go2 Purple Line 89, which runs from every 8-10 minutes.

Brown Line 15 will operate with brand new, wheelchair accessible midi-buses.

Brown Line 16: Rise Park > City Centre

There are no changes to the 16 route, which will continue to operate between the City Centre, Hucknall Road, Bestwood Estate, Top Valley and Rise Park.

Buses will run more frequently during Monday to Saturday daytimes, with a bus every 15 minutes. In the evenings and on Sundays, buses will continue to run every hour. Buses to the City on Sundays and in the evenings will run 30 minutes earlier than they currently do.

Some extra Monday to Friday peak time buses will operate to Brownlow Drive as service 16C.

Brown Line 16 will operate with brand new, wheelchair accessible midi-buses.

Go2 Brown Line 17: Bulwell > City Centre

Sunday evening buses, from approx. 21:00 will now run hourly.

Unilink 31: Jubilee Campus > City Centre

The timetable is significantly enhanced, with buses running every 12 minutes for most of the daytime period.

Lime Line 56: Arnold > City Centre

On Mondays to Fridays, the 07:50 bus from City to Arnold will run 5 minutes later.

Go2 Lime Line 58: Arnold > City Centre

On Saturdays, the timetable is enhanced with buses running every 8 minutes for most of the daytime.

On Mondays to Fridays, the 07:18 bus from Arnold to City and 07:50 from City to Arnold will run 5 minutes earlier.

Lime Line 59: Arnold > City Centre

On Mondays to Fridays, the 07:15 bus from Arnold to City will run 5 minutes later.

Purple Line 87: Arnold > City Centre

There are no changes to the 87 route, which will continue to operate between the City Centre, Sherwood, Edwards Lane, Oxclose Lane and Arnold.

Buses will run more frequently during Monday to Saturday daytimes, with a bus every 15 minutes. In the evenings and on Sundays, buses will continue to run every hour.

Purple Line 87 will operate with brand new, wheelchair accessible midi-buses from late September.

Purple Line 88: Top Valley > City Centre

There are significant changes to the route for Purple Line 88, which will now serve Chippenham Road and Queen’s Bower Road whilst also providing a circular service around Top Valley and Warren Hill. It will no longer serve Rise Park.

The 88 will follow the current route from the City Centre to Oxclose Lane Police Station, but will then operate along Chippenham Road, Queen’s Bower Road and Bestwood Park Drive to the Duke of St Albans.

Buses will then follow a one way loop along Ridgeway, Old Farm Road, Muirfield Road,  Bewcastle Road, passing Big Wood School, back to the Duke of St Albans before returning to the City along Queen’s Bower Road and Chippenham Road.

Buses to the City will pick up at the same stops along Ridgeway, Muirfield Road and Bewcastle Road and buses from the City will drop off at these stops too. On Old Farm Road, customers should cross the road and catch buses in the current direction of the 15 heading to Rise Park.

Customers can board and alight at any stop around the Top Valley and Warren Hill loop for journeys to and from the City without paying an additional fare.

The 88 will run more frequently during Monday to Saturday daytimes, with a bus every 15 minutes. A full evening service will be reinstated on all days of the week, running every hour.

Purple Line 88 will operate with brand new, wheelchair accessible midi-buses from late September.

Links to Rise Park are still provided by Yellow Line 70 for Ridgeway and Old Farm Road or Yellow Line 71 for Warren Hill. These services each run generally every 20 minutes on Monday to Saturday daytime and hourly in the evening and Sunday daytimes.

Parkview Drive will now only be served by Brown Line 16, which will run more frequently and follow the existing 16 route to City or Rise Park.

Go2 Purple Line 89: Rise Park > City Centre

There are no changes to the 89 route, which will continue to operate between the City Centre, Sherwood, Edwards Lane, Beckhampton Road and Rise Park.

Monday to Friday daytime buses between approx. 09:30 and 15:30 will run every 10 minutes, increasing to every 8 minutes during the peak times. Sunday evening buses, from approx. 21:00 will now run hourly.

Brand new double deck buses, with a larger wheelchair and pushchair bay are due to be introduced on the route by the autumn.

School Buses A1 and A2

These are new school services we are operating for Bluecoat, Trinity and Nottingham Girls Academy, following the withdrawal of other dedicated school buses.

Buses will operate on schooldays only and the routes have been developed in conjunction with Nottingham City Council. Normal fares apply and Easyrider Citycards are also valid.

School bus A1 will operate from Highbury Vale, Bulwell, Snape Wood, Hempshill Vale, Cinderhill and along Nuthall Road and the Ring Road.

School bus A2 will operate from Rise Park, Bestwood Park, Edwards Lane and along the Ring Road.

In the morning, both services will drop off on Aspley Lane for Bluecoat and Nottingham Girls Academy and on Beechdale Road for Trinity School. Afternoon buses will pick up from Beechdale Road (for Trinity School) and then Robin’s Wood Road (for Nottingham Girls Academy) and Aspley Lane for Bluecoat.

Local Link L9:

On Mondays to Fridays, the 15:02 from Bestwood Park will terminate on Edwards Lane at the City Hospital and will not continue through to Sherwood or Winchester Court.

Local Link L11:

Additional school day only journeys are introduced to Christ the King School, following the withdrawal of other dedicated school buses.

An extra morning bus will depart Top Valley Tesco at 07:58, arriving at Christ the King at 08:28. An extra afternoon bus will depart Christ the King at 15:40 and run through to Top Valley Tesco.

The two journeys which currently serve Imperial Road in Beeston will be curtailed to Beeston Bus Station.

Local Link L13, L14:

On Upper Parliament Street, buses towards Basford and Bulwell will use the previous stop, U3, which is currently used by our Turquoise Line 76, 77, 78 and 79 buses.

Local Link L15:

This service is withdrawn.
