Nottingham City Transport has kept its promise to re-fit buses that originally didn’t have space for two buggies or a double buggy.

Passengers highlighted the issue with the 24 brand new midi buses when they were introduced late last year, and since that time NCT has been working closely with the manufacturer to find a solution. Marketing Manager, Anthony Carver-Smith explains.
“The Solo SRs were part of a delivery of 56 brand new buses we bought last year. While we received great passenger feedback in terms of their comfy seats, modern design, audio announcements and real-time technology, our drivers and Facebook page comments told us that customers, especially those with double buggies, were experiencing problems. We then made it a priority to work on a redesign, and we’ve just completed the modification of all the buses on route 11 between the City, the Meadows and Lady Bay.”
With plans to re-fit the remaining buses for routes 15, 16, 87 and 88 now underway, with a completion date of May, passengers on route 11 have welcomed the changes.
“We have 12 more Solo SR due in 2012 for West Bridgford routes and the 70, 71 and we’ve asked the manufacturer to deliver them with this alternative internal layout,” adds Anthony Carver-Smith. “The safety and comfort of all our passengers is of paramount importance to us and we’d like to thank them for highlighting an issue we were able to put right.”
