The Scania single deck bus, which has been part of the Nottingham fleet for many years, will head south next week and is to be officially handed over to charity Islamic Relief on 8 June 2005 at Marwell Zoological Park, where representatives from the appeal, all donating organisations, delegates from the Sri Lanka and Indonesia governments and the Mayors of Southampton and Winchester will be in attendance.
All buses will then be parked in Southampton before the first buses are dispatched on 14 June to start work abroad in those areas most affected by last year’s tragic Tsunami.
Mark Fowles, NCT Managing Director, who supports the initiative said, “The British bus industry should be really proud of itself – the response has been phenomenal and NCT is delighted to contribute to the appeal by providing a lifeline to the many affected communities.”
