An important milestone was reached at Nottingham City Transport Awards Presentation on 12th September 2005, when the company unveiled the 100th driver to have completed the NVQ Road Passenger Transport award.
NVQ’s are part of continuing personal development at NCT, it provides a sound foundation for career advancement and motivates the individual to learn and develop new and existing skills.
Parliament Street Garage driver Steve Dickens was officially credited with bringing up the century. Steve, who is 49 and lives with his family at Woodthorpe, completed the syllabus in less than 3 months, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. “Once I got started on producing evidence for my portfolio, I just couldn’t put it down” said Steve, “The biggest problem was fighting off other family members for the use of the home computer!”
Praise continues to come in for the very high standards maintained by the company’s NVQ centre, recently described by a senior NVQ official as “absolutely first class”. Such comments reflect the hard work of the Candidates, Assessors and Internal Verifiers, plus the continuing financial commitment from the company in supporting this important award.”
