New arrangements for NET feeder bus services in Bulwell come into effect 24th July, following passenger research and extensive usage analysis of the existing routes.
Nottingham City Transport has been operating NET feeder services in the Bulwell area since the Tram began operating in March 2004. Following the launch of NET, NCT bus services operating the same route as the tram were withdrawn, or reduced in frequency, with new routes launched, designed to feed the tram from the residential areas of Bulwell.
These have attracted varying amounts of passengers during the 18 months of operation, as a result they are now changing to reflect passenger usage and demand and the latest Tram timetables.
NCT Services 64 and 65 will be withdrawn after the end of service on Saturday 23rd July 2005. Since their inception, these services have not covered their operating costs, with the number of people using the 64, 65 as a tram shuttle connection service being exceptionally low, indeed services 64 & 65 and have largely duplicated existing services 51, 71, 71A which remain unchanged.
The timetables of the 60/61 and 62/63 shuttle buses are also being changed on the same date, with the combined frequency around the loop in each direction at Bulwell being reduced to every 15 minutes daytime, and 30 minutes evenings/Sundays rather than the current 10 minute daytime and 20 minute evening/Sundays. The new timetables offer much better connections with the trams, with details of the tram connections in the new bus timetable.
Bus times between City and Bulwell on the 60, 62 remain virtually the same, except on Sundays when they are amended slightly to improve connections with the tram connection times.
As a result of the Turning Point road changes also taking place in the City on the same date, services 60 and 62 will move to a new terminal point at Victoria Centre Clock Tower (VB) and the Elite (EB)
Following residents’ requests, on the 60-63 loop, buses will also be coming off Wood Link and Sellers Wood Drive West, reverting to the old terminal point at Snape Wood – using Snape Wood Road in both directions.
New timetables and route maps will be available for passengers week commencing 18th July from the NCT Travel Centre and local outlets, further information can be obtained from the NCT website www.nctx.co.uk or from 0115 950 60 70.
