Nottingham City Transport plan to implement some minor changes to the Pathfinder network on 2nd January 2006. The network was re-launched in April 2005, concentrating on the main Nottingham-Newark services via the A46 and through Southwell. Overall this new network has been extremely successful, with patronage growing and high levels of reported customer satisfaction.
However, the very early morning and later evening journeys have not seen strong usage and even with Nottinghamshire County Council financial support, are not commercially viable and indeed, were threatening the feasibility of the entire Pathfinder network. Given this situation a few of these journeys will be withdrawn, with minor tweaks to other journeys, to ensure this valuable service to Newark and Southwell commuters can continue, providing vital links to Nottingham and Newark. Some fares will also increase on this date reflecting the continued pressure of high fuel prices.
Commercial Manager Barrie Burch stated “We have worked hard to maintain and strengthen the Pathfinder network and are delighted with the usage during the core part of the day, since the changes in April. These further tweaks will ensure that Pathfinder remains commercially sound and thus preserve the service for local residents, with minimal disruption.”
Any queries in the meantime should be directed to the NCT Travel Centre 0115 950 60 70, where staff are fully briefed to provide further information.
