24/7 AIRPORT BUS SERVICE

The Skylink bus service running between Nottingham and Nottingham East Midlands Airport is to begin running 24 hours a day, seven days a week, from this Sunday, 22 May 2005.

Since it was launched last year, the Skylink has proved a popular way of travelling to and from the airport – both for travellers and for people working at the airport and surrounding business park – currently attracting around 12,000 passengers a month.

Until now, the service – providing comfy seats and ample baggage space - has run half-hourly from 4am to 11pm. Now, in response to airline passenger demand and 24-hour businesses on and around the airport, there will also be hourly services between 11pm and 4am.

The route will also change from Sunday, still picking up/dropping off at Friar Lane near the Old Market Square and the railway station, but instead of using Queen’s Drive, crossing Trent Bridge and using Wilford Lane to meet demand in that area, before continuing along Clifton Lane, the A453 and the business park and airport.

The new timetable and route are a six-month trial financed by Nottingham East Midlands Airport.

Fares are £7 adult return, or £12 return for a whole family. Workers can purchase a monthly network pass from NCT which brings total daily travel costs down to around £2.20 return - including any connecting NCT/NET service.
