Nottingham City Transport have provided five state-of-the-art ‘bendy’ buses to ensure that Nottingham Trent University students get the very best in transport when they travel from the city to the Clifton Campus this academic year. NCT has worked with the university and Nottingham City Council to provide a more frequent term-time service that ensures easy access between the two sites for students and staff.
The Unilink 4 was officially unveiled yesterday at South Sherwood Street, in the city, and the service will be launched on the 4th of October at the beginning of term.
The fully branded Unilink bus, complete with Nottingham Trent University livery, has on-board CCTV for improved security, flat screen information systems giving journey details and a low floor to make it easier for people to board.
To support this service there will be real time information displays at both campus bus stops plus, stops along the route have been upgraded with new shelters with lighting and easily accessible platforms
NCT have also set up any easyrider smart card option for NTU students which allows them to enable their NTU student card as a travel card. Students can enjoy unlimited travel across the NCT and NET networks during term time for £1 a day.
Barrie Burch Commercial Manager for NCT stated “We have been operating service 4 between the two NTU sites for many years, and were delighted when the university approached us to enhance this service to accommodate the extra students travelling to Clifton this year. This partnership project really proves what can be achieved in the public transport field if there is a real will to develop and encourage its use. I am sure the students will use this excellent new service extensively”.
