Residents in West Bridgford have responded positively to their improved bus network, which provides them with new links into the city, and enhanced local routes and frequencies. These services are now all operated by low floor buses branded as Bridgford Bus, and provide a minimum half hour daytime frequency for passengers.
Patronage in the first week increased by 50%, with no detrimental effect to the well established three Go2 routes. The new three-way partnership (NCT, the City and County Councils) “Local Link” service, connecting residents between Silverdale, Clifton Village, Clifton, Ruddington, West Bridgford and Lady Bay has also been well received and used.
Following the recent changes NCT have received many letters and calls from appreciative customers, one recent e mail read “thank you for at long last changing the above timetable which enables the above bus to run every half hour and also into the evening. All of us that rely on the bus are very pleased about this as when it was every hour and no bus in the evening it made it very awkward with appointments, shopping etc”.
Councillor Stella Smedley, Cabinet Member for Environment and Sustainability for the County Council, recently launched this new enhanced network, cutting a green ribbon draped across Central Avenue to mark the improvements for the NCT green line services to West Bridgford.
She said: “The positive response from the public to the revised West Bridgford network is very encouraging. This project has been a good example of the success that can be achieved through partnership working between the Council and a bus operator like NCT. We look forward to building on this success both in West Bridgford and in other areas around the county.”
Full details of these new services, routes maps and timetables are available from the NCT Travel Centre and NCT’s website www.nctx.co.uk.
