IMPROVED BUS SERVICES FOR WEST BRIDGFORD

Nottingham City Transport in partnership with Nottinghamshire County Council launch the new improved the bus network for West Bridgford from Sunday 4th December. The new network has been created in response to the NCT passenger survey undertaken earlier this year, and from feedback regarding the County Council's Bridgford Lynx service launched Spring 2005.

These preferences have been built into the new network wherever possible, one of the key new features being links into the city as well as enhanced local links and improved frequencies

The new network builds upon the three successful Go2 services 6, 10 and 11 which offer residents, a daytime ten minute frequency with midnight departures and low floor buses. Other Bridgford services 5, 7, 8 and 9 will now enjoy an increased daytime frequency   to every ½ hour,  served by low floor buses branded as “Bridgford Bus” – part of the green NCT Nottingham Network fleet. The Bridgford Lynx service will be replaced from this date, as these new routes cover all the main areas in West Bridgford currently served by this service, ensuring passengers can get to the places they need to go in the town and the city on a frequent basis.

In addition to the NCT commercial routes, a three-way partnership between NCT, the City and County Councils has resulted in a Monday – Saturday “Local Link” service connecting residents between  Silverdale, Clifton Village, Clifton, Ruddington ,West Bridgford and Lady Bay. This service will operate a demand responsive service around Clifton Village and Stanhome Square as well as serving other areas in West Bridgford providing links to health centres and local shops. Service 3 will continue its existing route from Silverdale and Wilford to the City Centre via Asda and West Bridgford Town Centre

NCT Commercial Manager Barrie Burch stated “we have listened carefully to what West Bridgford residents require from their bus service, we believe the improved frequencies will encourage many people to use the bus more frequently, leaving the car at home and provide all passengers much better access to local facilities”

Councillor Stella Smedley, Cabinet Member for Environment and Sustainability for the County Council, said: “We are delighted to support this improved bus service for the benefit of West Bridgford residents, which will also provide them with better transport links to the city.”

As part of these changes the NCT Go2 service 10 will terminate in Ruddington at The Green, Nottinghamshire County Council is has arranged for tendered peak time bus services to provide a link to this site.

Full details of the new services, routes maps and timetables are available from the NCT Travel Centre and NCT's website www.nctx.co.uk. Local residents will also receive a timetable for these services as part of a door drop promotional campaign at the beginning of December; they have already received the NCT passenger magazine “Network News” detailing all these improvements to their service.
