NCT Network changes planned for Navy & Maroon Routes from 3 September 2006


Following passenger research and feedback through our Travel Centre, changes will be introduced to the Clifton network, navy and South Notts services, in response to requests for improved frequencies, simpler routes and more accessible buses.

These changes will see:

  • Up to 22 buses an hour from Clifton Estate to City
  • A 10 minute service between City and Clifton via Trent Bridge
  • An increased level of service for Summerwood Lane and Rivergreen areas to every 30 minutes in the daytime
  • New evening and Sunday journeys for Summerwood Lane
  • Larger capacity buses on the 1 and 53
  • Better co-ordination of arrival and departure times for core buses at the QMC
  • Low floor accessible buses on the 2

    In addition, the following changes also take effect on 3 September 2006 on the Maroon routes serving Nottingham University :

12 City and Beeston via University

  • Service replaced by new Unilink 34 (commencing 25.9.06) operating every 12 minutes between Nottingham University, Derby Road and City Centre

13, 13C City and Beeston/Chilwell

  • A revised timetable introduced on all days, with bus frequencies increased to every 20 minutes on Monday to Saturday daytimes and every 30 minutes on Sunday daytimes.
  • Revised peak timetable, including extra 13C journeys for Chilwell.

50 University – City Hospital

  • Service re-routed via St Peters Street and Hartley Road in Radford to improve access to student accommodation in the area and provide better links to the Jubilee and University Park campuses.

Other NCT service tweaks and improvements include:

  • Go2 service 11 - Additional peak time journeys between City and Trent Boulevard introduced on Mondays to Fridays
  • Minor timetable changes on 29/C, 35, 57, 88, 94, 160, 192
  • School services 56X, 153, 204, 205, 206, 209, 224, 253, 990 withdrawn, new arrangements and services in place for Bluecoat, Trinity and Manning schools, schools and pupils have been advise directly by the LEA.

The new network will be communicated as follows:

  • Door to door leaflet drop to all houses in Clifton in August
  • Special leaflet detailing all services for Clifton and connections to other key destinations
  • NCT website
  • Local media
  • On bus leaflets

Navy & South Notts changes:

Route 1: Nottingham to Loughborough via Trent Bridge

Same route between Nottingham and Loughborough, but all journeys operated with double decks. Revised timetable, but no change to basic frequencies. Some early morning buses withdrawn due to low usage. Evening timetable revised to give better co-ordination with other routes.

Same route between City and Green Lane (The Peacock) but then operates left along Southchurch Drive to Holy Trinity and around the Summerwood Lane Loop. Buses increased to operate up to every 15 minutes in the peak hours, every 30 minutes during the daytime and hourly in the evenings and Sundays. Service upgraded to be operated with low floor buses, giving improved access on to the bus, especially for pushchairs and wheelchairs.

Route 3: City to Clifton via Trent Bridge

Service 3 will operate the same route as the 1 and 2 between City and Fabis Drive , then along Brinkhill Crescent , Sunninghill Drive and Rivergreen (current 49A route) to Southchurch Drive shops. From Southchurch Drive shops, buses will then follow the existing service 2 route along Green Lane to the Man of Trent and Hartness Road . The service will operate every 30 minutes on Monday to Saturday daytimes only.

Current service 3 to Silverdale will be replaced by a dedicated Nottingham City Council contract service.

Route 48 City to Clifton via Clifton Bridge

No change to route, though the small number of early morning buses that extend to the Victoria Centre Clock are withdrawn. A revised timetable is introduced, but buses will still run every 10 minutes or better during the Monday to Saturday daytime and up to every 20 minutes in the evenings and on Sundays.

The 49A is replaced by revised services 2 ( Green Lane and Summerwood Lane areas) and the 3 (Rivergreen and Sunninghill Drive areas).

Route 53 Clifton to Arnold via QMC, Ring Road

No change to route, but the service will be operated by double deck vehicles to provide extra capacity at core times. The timetable will be revised with a basic 30 minute Monday to Saturday daytime service, with better arrival and departure times at the QMC. Evening and Sunday services are withdrawn due to very low usage.
