Improvements to Nottingham City Transport's Lilac and Red line services, serving the Carlton, Netherfield, Gedling, Mapperley, Colwick and Bakersfield areas will be introduced on Sunday 23 rd July 2006.
The changes, which incorporate passenger feedback and suggestions include:
| |
Extending service 25 to Arnold Town Centre on Sunday daytimes
Extra peak time journeys on the 25 service for Westdale Lane
Tightening up the timetable on the 44, 45 services to reduce wait times at bus stops
Introducing a more frequent, double deck, service to Bakersfield on services 23, 24 in the evenings to cater for growing demand |
In summary, the changes to the main services include:
Lilac Line Services 23, 23A, 24 City to Bakersfield
Revised timetable on all days, with buses still running every 10 minutes on Monday to Saturday daytimes and every 15 minutes on Sundays between City and Eastdale Road.
In the evenings, double deck buses will be introduced, with the combined frequency increased to every 20 minutes to and from the City Centre.
On Saturday mornings before 09.00, the timetable will be improved to operate as a combined regular 15 minute service.
Lilac Line Service 25 City, Westdale Lane to Arnold
Revised timetable on all days, with buses still running every 20 minutes on Monday to Saturday daytimes between City, Westdale Lane and Arnold .
Sunday daytime buses between 10.00 and 17.00 are extended to Arnold Town Centre on a trial basis in direct response to passenger requests for improved shopping links to Arnold as well as the Daybrook retail areas.
All buses which currently start at Westdale Lane/Holyoake Road are extended to start and finish at Mapperley Shops. (Buses will no longer terminate on Holyoake Road in the evenings and on Sundays; passengers should use the normal stops on Westdale Lane near the Co-op).
Additional Monday to Friday journeys are introduced from the City at 15.37 and 15.57 as far as Mapperley and on Schooldays, an extra bus will operate from Mapperley to City, departing at 09.04.
The Sunday evening frequency (after approx. 19.00) is reduced to hourly to better reflect actual demand.
Lilac Go2 Service 27
Minor changes to Monday to Saturday timetables, but buses will continue to run every 10 minutes or better during the daytimes. The Sunday evening frequency (after approx. 19.00) is reduced to hourly to better reflect actual demand.
Red Go2 Services 44, 45
Revised Monday to Saturday timetables, including the tightening up of running times to minimise wait times along the route. The Sunday evening frequency (after approx. 19.00) is reduced to hourly to better reflect demand.
As part of the changes introduced on 23 July 2006, the Saturday service on the 22 and 23A routes will be withdrawn due to very low usage.
In addition, service 46 between City and Plains Estate via Mapperley, which provides 3-4 journeys per day, will be withdrawn due to poor commercial performance. The route, which duplicates other more popular NCT services, including the 56 to Plains Estate running up to every 20 minutes, has been operating at a loss for some time and NCT can no longer justify running the service 46 when the revenue taken does not cover the basic operational costs of providing the service.
The new timetables are now available from all normal outlets, as well as on the NCT website www.nctx.co.uk or by calling the Travel Centre on 0115 950 60 70 or clicking on one of the links below.
