NCT service 53 operating between Arnold, City Hospital, QMC and Clifton along the Ring Road is now being operated with low floor buses.
These low floor buses have no entrance step and make getting on and off the bus easier, with an area designed to accommodate pushchairs on each of the vehicles.
In addition to the low floor buses, the timetable for the 53 has been revised to incorporate passenger comments, reflect passenger usage levels and take account of traffic congestion along the busy Ring Road.
The timetable will see some extra early morning buses between Clifton and the QMC to Arnold as well as extra late afternoon buses back from Arnold and QMC to Clifton. The last bus from QMC to Clifton has been put back one hour to 19:15, following passenger requests.
The NCT fleet is now 93% low floor, with 57% of buses certified accessible to accommodate wheelchairs. This is well ahead of government targets which require bus fleets to be 50% low floor by 2010 and NCT is on track to be fully accessible ahead of the 2017 deadline.
The new service 53 timetable is available from the NCT Travel Centre and over 230 outlets across the network, including local libraries as well as the NCT website – www.nctx.co.uk – and by calling 0115 950 60 70.
