NCT and the Nottingham Evening post recently appealed for Elvis look-alikes’ to advertise the new weekend Go2 Night services starting 30 November 2007 which will operate every hour until 3am across 8 key routes from the city centre.
Elvis impersonators were asked to send a photo and 50 words on why they would be a good Elvis to promote this new night network and themselves to the people of Nottingham.
The worthy winner is Devon Jenson aged 38 who after singing Elvis numbers at Karaoke events to great applause decided a year ago to become an Elvis tribute act.
To date he has taken part in the "Walk a Golden Mile in my Shoes" Elvis convention in Blackpool in January, the Return to Memphis tour UK in March which was televised, and then in June, the European heat for the Elvis convention and contest at Norbreck Castle in Blackpool, where he was certified as an ETA (Elvis Tribute Artist).
Devon has just returned from a 7 week tour in Cyprus and regularly gigs in the UK raising money for charity, he is now a full time Elvis look-alike act, for more details visit www.myspace.com/dekerivers100
He stated in his application to NCT “I work hard for most charities, including Macmillan Cancer Support as my mother has cancer now, it would be great for her to see her son to be given this chance to promote my act, and I would love to make her proud of me”
He continued “I am delighted to have been chosen as the NCT Elvis to promote the new GO2 night network, I am a regular bus user and travel with my Mother on NCT services regularly, late night buses are an excellent idea for passengers to travel home after gigs and the new £2 fare is brilliant value”
Devon, as Elvis will feature on all the publicity material promoting these 8 new night services and hopefully will appear as Elvis during November around the city centre, to promote himself and Go2 night buses as well as raise further funds for MacMillan Cancer Support.
