Student Deals for the New Term

Students returning to school or starting college this September can look forward to travel bargains following changes to NCT Easyrider smart cards.

The age limit on the young person's Easyrider smart card has been increased from 16 and under to 18 and under, reducing the cost of travel for students aged between 16 and 18 by 30% per month.

At only £28 for 28 days, compared to £40 for Easyrider City , students can travel to and from school/college for only £1 per day, as well as then making unlimited bus and tram travel on NCT and NET services across Greater Nottingham until 21:45 each night and at the weekends. Even greater discounts are available for longer renewal periods.

For students aged 18 and over, NCT is also offering a special 10% discount on the normal Easyrider City smart card, when renewed at the Travel Centre in the Old Market Square with a valid college ID card. Working with the three main local colleges, NCT has produced college-specific bus guides which give advice on the best route to take as well as special ticketing discounts.

Commenting on the changes to pricing for students, Anthony Carver-Smith, NCT Network Development and Quality Controller said, “We've been listening to students and parents about the cost of bus travel to school and college and are delighted to be able to offer these discounts for the new academic year. As well as saving money on bus travel, there are also other benefits to holding a smart card, with parents given reassurance that bus travel is paid for in advance as well as removing the need to carry cash”.

Easyrider smart cards are available from the NCT Travel Centre in the Old Market Square , which is open 6 days per week:

Mondays                                         08:30 – 18:00
Tuesdays to Fridays                         08:30 – 17:30
Saturdays                                        08:30 – 15:00

Students need to bring proof of age with them to get the first Easyrider <18 card, but once purchased, holders of the Easyrider <18 smart card can renew in the Travel Centre, online at www.nctx.co.uk, by telephone on 0115 950 60 70 or by Direct Debit.
