Nottingham City Council’s Turning Point project is due to recommence on Monday 9th January 2006 and continue until October 2006. The majority of work will be carried out on Milton Street (east side) between the Hilton Hotel and Parliament Street junctions, Upper Parliament Street (south side) between Milton Street and South Sherwood Street junctions and Lower Parliament Street (both sides) between Milton Street and Glasshouse Street junctions.
The first stage to affect NCT operations will begin on Sunday 15th January 2005 and will entail changes to bus stopping arrangements as follows effective from start of service on this date: -
Blue Line Services (40, 41 and 42) – are to be relocated from the temporary stop at the Clocktower to use bus stop code Vh on Milton Street which will then be the permanent stop for these services.
Pink Line Services (28, 29 and 30) plus 193 – are to be relocated from the temporary stops on Burton Street to stop code Vg on Milton Street which will be the permanent stop for these services.
Orange Line Services (35, 36, 37 and 38) – are to be relocated from their stops on Milton Street to use the temporary stops on Burton Street opposite the City Treasury and Guildhall. Service 36 should use the stop nearest the South Sherwood Street traffic lights and remainder use the stop nearest to the “Sausage” Restaurant.
This bus stop relocation will entail a minor diversion to these services in that City bound buses are to operate normal route to Shakespeare Street then right North Church Street onto Burton Street. Buses should then depart via Burton Street and South Sherwood Street to revert to their normal routes on Upper Parliament Street.
Mixed services 3, 4, 49a, 93, 94, 192 and 195 plus Bulwell services 60 and 62 – are to be relocated from stop code Vg on Milton Street to the temporary stop at the Victoria Clocktower.
Please note:
Brown Line services (15, 16 & 17) will not be affected by the Turning Point works beginning 15th January 2006. However, the Trinity Square Car park demolition will begin during the same week. During periods of the demolition process there may be a need to relocate these service stops but only by a very short distance.
Agreements have been made between the demolition contractor and Nottingham City Council as to how pedestrian movement and bus stop usage can be kept safe with minimal effect to NCT services within the Trinity Square area.
