NCT - Network Changes - January 2009

Nottingham City Transport will be introducing further changes to a small number of City Centre bus stops from Sunday 25th January 2009, to continue easing congestion around the Victoria Centre area. There will also be some minor timetable adjustments to South Notts service 1 to improve reliability, extra stops on Night Bus N77 and a new Saturday service to Boots, Beeston funded by Nottingham City Council.

Service 1 Timetable Change

To improve reliability for passengers, some minor changes will be introduced to the timetable on all days. There are no changes to the frequency of buses and most changes reflect higher traffic levels experienced on the route, particularly along the A453 through Clifton, which has been causing delays and buses to run late.

Mondays to Fridays
· Buses departing Nottingham at 06:20, 06:50 and 07:10 will all depart 5 minutes earlier.
· Buses arriving into Nottingham before 09:00 will be re-timed to allow for higher traffic levels. Most buses will depart earlier.
· 18:15 from Nottingham to Loughborough will depart 5 minutes later.
· Evening journeys are adjusted to depart up to 3 minutes later.

Saturdays
· 18:15 from Nottingham to Loughborough will depart 5 minutes later.
· Evening journeys are adjusted to depart up to 3 minutes later.

Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays
· All buses towards Loughborough will depart Gotham and all subsequent stops up to 3 minutes later.

City Centre Bus Stop Changes

A small number of bus stops will be changing in the City Centre to improve the flow of traffic and minimise congestion on Milton Street. This follows the completion of the bridge strengthening works on Parliament Street in November when stops were changed in this area and has maintained the improved levels of reliability experienced during the bridge works.

Pink Line Services 30, 31 and W3 will move along to the next stop at the Victoria Centre, J6.

Orange Line 34 will move from The Elite to Parliament Street, opposite the Victoria Centre outside JBB Sports, stop W4. Buses will depart this new stop 2 minutes earlier than the current Elite times.

Orange Line Services 35, 35A, 35B will move along to the next stop on Angel Row, A4.

Blue Line Services 40, 40B, 41, 42 will move to stop J2 outside the Hilton Hotel on Milton Street. An additional stop (V4) was introduced outside Argos on Parliament Street in November.

Local Link services L3, L4, L7 will move further along Milton Street to stop J6.

Citylink 1, W1, W2 and Skylink will be relocated at Nottingham Station for journeys from the City Centre to Lenton Industrial Estates and East Midlands Airport. These services will now all use stop S4 located directly outside the Train Station.

Night Bus N77 – Extra Stops & Route extended to start at Broad Marsh, Collin Street at 01:10, 02:10 and 03:10, with additional stops on Fletcher Gate on George Street.

Saturday Service to Boots, W4
New service W4 will be introduced from Saturday 31 January 2009 running between the City Centre and the Boots Site at Beeston. NCT will operate this service under contract to Nottingham City Council who are funding the service. All normal NCT tickets will be accepted on this new service, which will follow the Citylink 1 route.

· Buses will leave the Victoria Centre at 05:30, 09:30, 13:30, 17:30, 21:30
· Buses will leave the Boots Beeston site at 06:12, 10:12, 14:12, 18:12, 22:12

Commenting on these latest network developments, David Astill NCT Commercial Manager said, “NCT has once again listened to customer comments to continue the fine tuning of our bus services in the City, which continues to be used by more people. The new bus stopping arrangements will help reduce congestion in two of the busiest bus stopping areas in the City Centre”.
