City centre early-risers are set to see a colourful convoy of five state-of-the-art buses making their way past the iconic Lions of The Council House this Saturday – heading to their final destination on the Old Market Square.
These brand new, double decks form part of a 40 vehicle investment by Nottingham City Transport this year, and will be officially presented to NCT by representatives from bus manufacturing giants Scania and ADL, before all five are opened to the public as part of a special launch event from 10.30am until 4.30pm.
“This is a great chance for our customers to hop on board these fantastic buses, and get a real feel for how impressive and comfortable their journeys will be!” says NCT Marketing Manager, Anthony Carver-Smith.
With luxurious e-leather seating, accessible low flooring, ample space for wheelchairs and buggies and free Wi-Fi to name but a few of their features, NCT has ensured these 21st century double decks have been designed with customer comfort in mind.
“We always aim to provide the best possible journey experience for our passengers and we recognise that a huge part of that is ensuring our buses are modern, stylish and are equipped with everything today’s traveller needs – from audio and visual stop announcements and real-time technology, to free Wi-Fi for surfing,” adds Anthony Carver-Smith.
It has already been announced that the Red Line 43 and the Turquoise Line 77 will be the first two routes to see the new buses in operation, and with each double deck sporting a different coloured livery, NCT will be unveiling the next routes to benefit during Saturday’s event.
“We’re making a real day of it at our celebration event – giving away lots of freebies, hot and cold drinks, snacks and of course information about the new buses and our services,” says Anthony Carver-Smith. “We’re really looking forward to introducing our loyal customers to their brand new vehicles, and we’re sure they’ll agree that once on the road they’ll be the best way to travel in and around the city.”
Nottingham City Transport’s new bus launch event will be taking place in the Old Market Square on Saturday 22nd February from 10.30am until 4.30pm.
