Cleaning Up Nottingham's Air with New Filter Cleaner Installed

Diesel Bus Cleaning Filter

Following a £42m investment in our fleet since 2017, we will soon have upgraded all of our buses to the latest, most stringent emission standards, known as Euro VI.

This has been achieved through the introduction of 120 brand new, bio-gas double deck buses, 10 brand new low emission midi-buses and the fitting of an exhaust treatment system to the remaining 180 diesel buses already in service. The funding for the exhaust treatment system was secured by Nottingham City Council and Nottinghamshire County Council from central government.

Each of these 180 buses, plus the 10 brand new low emission midi-buses, has a filter on, which captures the particles that would otherwise be emitted through the exhaust. The exhaust treatment system reduces the tailpipe emissions by 90%.

This new machine is used to clean these filters, ensuring they remain in excellent condition and perform to their optimum levels, which ensures the buses are as clean as they can be and Nottingham’s air is cleaner too!
