Martin Cross NCT Bus Driver

Nottingham City Transport bus driver, Martin Cross, will be swapping the normal sound of his bus stopping bell for the ‘ding, ding’ of the boxing ring this Saturday, 1 December, as he fights in an eliminator that could see him compete for the Midlands Cruiserweight Title next year.

Martin’s fight against Ben ‘the Butcher’ Marriott forms part of an evening of semi-professional boxing taking place at the Motorpoint Arena Nottingham as part of “EBF Boxing – Point to Prove”.

Local heavyweights have a point to prove in a division that is really heating up. Shane McPhilbin takes on renowned tough-man Dom Allcock whist Jake Harrison and John Lewis are set for their highly anticipated clash.

The show also features many of favourite local fighters, including Martin and other young upcoming stars who will be looking to make a name for themselves on the big stage.

City Operator of the Year, Nottingham City Transport is one of Martin’s sponsors and has covered the costs of his fight shorts, gloves and entrance jacket.

The Company’s Marketing Manager, Anthony Carver-Smith said, “Martin is used to hearing the bell as part of his role as an NCT driver as he stops his bus to drop people off around Nottingham. We’ve no doubt he’ll know it’s time to do the opposite and go when he hears the ringside bell on Saturday night and we wish him the very best of luck in this important clash.”

Tickets for the evening are still available from the Motorpoint Arena.
