The Engineering Department has a vacancy for an Engineering Vehicle Technician at Trent Bridge Garage.
About the Role
As Vehicle Technician, you will maintain, inspect, diagnose, repair and test mechanical and electrical systems and equipment and to carry out repairs as necessary on a modern fleet of buses and company vehicles, to ensure they are maintained to a high standard.
About You
You will carry out any reasonable maintenance activities whilst working to good practice and health and safety standards.
To be successful in this role, you will have both electrical and mechanical knowledge in the HGV / PCV repair industry to enhance our current and proposed vehicle shift rota and be able to meet the demands of our varying workloads. Invested in your own development, you will open to ongoing vehicle type training.
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Previous experience working as a Technician on Euro 4 + commercial vehicles in the Bus, Coach or HGV sector
- Holder of a recognised apprenticeship qualification (City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 Diploma or equivalent) in heavy vehicle repair (truck or bus)
- At least 3 years post qualifying experience ideally in a main dealer or PSV or HGV workshop
- Experience of modern CAN bus electrical systems and OEM diagnostic systems
- Proficient in English (spoken and written)
- Good communicator with strong interpersonal skills
- Proactive, can do attitude with a team player mentality
- A car and PCV driving licence, however we may consider training a non-PCV licence holder.
Desirable
- IRTEC accredited technician (IRTEC is managed for the IRTE by the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) and delivered by accredited centres in the UK and abroad).
- Experience working on and carrying out diagnostics on Euro 4 + heavy commercial vehicles or SCANIA Trucks, Buses, or Coaches
- Welding / Hot work experience
- IMI Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle EV systems Repair and Replacement

Hours of Work
37 hours a week (with 30 minutes unpaid meal break). Sunday to Saturday, 5 from 7. Varying hours on a rotating shift pattern.
Rates of Pay and Benefits
- Rates of Pay: Monday – Friday (Earlies – 05:30 to 13:30 and Lates -13:00 to 21:00) £20.71 per hour. You will receive an enhanced rate of £24.62 for Saturday/Sunday and overtime.
