Nottingham City Transport Celebrates Top Drivers with Double Bus Naming
1 year ago
Nottingham City Transport has recognised two of its top bus drivers by naming two of their brand new bio-gas double decks in their honour.
The names of UK Bus Awards Top National Bus Driver 2018, Aaron Johnson and NCT’s 2018 Driver of the Year, Jatinder Kumar are now proudly displayed on the front of buses on the routes they drive, with photographs of the drivers on the back.
Aaron’s bus is on his Purple 89 route between City, Sherwood, City Hospital, Bestwood Park and Rise Park, which is currently being upgraded to operate with the low emission bio-gas buses.
Aaron said, “After being recognised as the Top National Bus Driver last year, I am truly honoured that my company has recognised this achievement by naming one of the brand new buses after me. I’m truly living the Purple Dream!”
A new bio-gas double deck Lilac 27 bus to Carlton boasts Jatinders name on the front and recognises his crowning as NCT’s Driver of the Year back in January 2019.
Jatinder commented, “Winning NCT Driver of the Year in January was a massive surprise for me because I feel like I am just doing my job by carrying people to and from their destinations. To now have a bus named after me too, is just amazing and I am so proud”.
In total, 30 Nottingham City Transport buses have been named, with Aaron and Jatinder joining an exclusive group which includes community heroes, other NCT Drivers of the Year, Olympians and a musician.
David Astill, NCT Commercial and Operations Director added, “Our drivers are the public face of NCT when customers board our buses and it’s only right that we celebrate their achievements by proudly naming two of our buses after two of our top drivers”.
