Nottingham City Transport Serving Edwards Lane Estate and Woodthorpe Court from End of March 2020

1 month ago Mon 17th Feb 2020

Residents of Edwards Lane Estate, Woodthorpe Court, Winwood Court and Winchester Court will be served by Nottingham City Transport’s Blue Line 40 from 30 March 2020, as the UK Bus Operator of the Year revises its Blue Line services.

Blue Line 40 will extend beyond its current City Hospital Campus terminus to Edwards Lane Estate every 30 minutes on Monday to Saturday daytimes. These journeys will also serve stops on South Road within the City Hospital, giving easier access to South Entrance of the hospital.

On Edwards Lane Estate, buses will serve Alderton Road, Northwood Crescent and Longmead Drive. Buses will also call in at the Woodthorpe, Winwood and Winchester Courts when travelling along their current route of Winchester Street and Mapperley Rise.

These areas are currently served by an hourly City Council funded Local Link bus, L9 on weekdays and residents will benefit from a service that’s twice as frequent and for the Woodthorpe, Winwood and Winchester Courts, a more direct route to the City Centre. On Saturdays, residents are currently served every two hours with the L9 and the new Blue 40 provides a service which is four times more frequent.

David Astill, NCT Commercial and Operations Director commented, “The pressure on local authority budgets are well reported and over the last year, Nottingham City Transport has assisted Nottingham City Council by replacing a number of formerly subsidised services with commercial bus routes at no cost to the taxpayer”.

He continued, “Our changes to Blue Line 40 not only provide the residents of Edwards Lane Estate and Woodthorpe Court with twice as many buses on weekdays and four times as many buses on Saturdays, they also reduce the cost of subsidised bus services for Nottingham City Council”.

Nottingham City Transport will be revising the timetables of all its Blue Line services to St Ann’s from 29 March 2020, designed to make the 40, 41, 42 services more reliable for customers.

New printed timetables will be available from early March in NCT’s Travel Centre and local libraries.
