Nottingham Encouraged to “Celebrate Summer and Support your Local Hospitals” in New Charity Campaign Supported by NCT
3 weeks ago
People across Nottingham are being encouraged to take advantage of the unique summer ahead to show their support for local hospitals as part of a new summer activities campaign.
Aimed at encouraging people to be active and have some fun, “Celebrate Summer” launches on Monday 13 July via local advertising campaigns across Nottingham’s transport systems, supported by Nottingham City Transport and NET trams.
Nottingham Hospitals Charity’s Chief Executive, Barbara Cathcart, said: “Our Celebrate Summer campaign provides a tremendous opportunity for people to show their support for the hospital areas closest to their hearts, with some great activities to do while also helping raise much needed funds.
“Many hospital area clinical activities have been reduced over the last four months, including those supporting patients with cancer and in paediatrics. Last year we donated over £4million to areas like these so we would like to be able to continue our support of these key areas, as the Charity has always done.
“With school summer holidays approaching and virtual classes finishing, what better time to plan a fun fundraising activity with friends, colleagues and family? Our Celebrate Summer information pack has lots of ideas of things to do, from virtual coffee mornings, to a mile-a-day marathon, to socially-distanced street parties and garden camp outs.”
Every day, patients in over a hundred wards and clinical areas across QMC, City Hospital and Nottingham Children’s Hospital benefit from the enhancements provided through generous donations to the hospitals through Nottingham Hospitals Charity. Over recent years these have included major refurbishments which have enhanced patient facilities, as well as the provision of new state of the art diagnostic equipment, funding for vital medical research and many patient enhancements, including benefits such as complementary therapies for patients undergoing treatment.
Anthony Carver-Smith, Marketing Manager at Nottingham City Transport, said: “Nottingham Hospitals Charity undertake vital fundraising for our local NHS services and their work has supported many of our employees and their families. NCT is proud to continue its partnership with Nottingham Hospitals Charity by supporting their fantastic Celebrate Summer campaign and we thank our local Team NUH heroes for their commitment and dedication, particularly over the last few months”.
Andrew Conroy, Chief Operating Officer for NET concessionaire Tramlink Nottingham, said: “Nottingham Hospitals Charity carries out fantastic work supporting the NHS, and never has our NHS been more recognised and appreciated than in recent months. We’re delighted to support the Celebrate Summer campaign and hope people will continue to show their appreciation by joining in these fund raising activities.”
