This disruption is no longer in place.
The East Leake Carnival will be held on Saturday 24th June. A Parade will take place between 15:15 and 16:15, involving fairly brief closures of parts of Gotham Road and Main Street in East Leake. The closures will affect South Notts 1, and will happen in two phases:
Phase 1: Gotham Road between Lantern Lane and Main Street
This section of Gotham Road will close for about 20 minutes. As there is no suitable diversion, buses will need to wait for the road to reopen before continuing their journeys (buses towards Loughborough will be able to follow the Parade as the road is reopened behind it).
Phase 2: Main Street between Gotham Road and Station Road
This section of Main Street will close for about 40 minutes from the time at which the Parade arrives at the south end of Gotham Road. While this closure is in place, our South Notts 1 service will be diverted as follows:
- South Notts 1 towards Loughborough: Buses will operate as normal as far as Gotham Road (East Leake Shops), then at the T junction will turn left onto Main Street, right Castle Hill, and onto Loughborough Road to normal route after the Rempstone Road junction.
- Stops labelled: “School Green”, “Woodgate Road”, “Kirk Ley Road Top” and “Rempstone Road” cannot be served.
- South Notts 1 towards Nottingham: Buses will operate via normal route as far as A6006 Melton Road, buses will then turn left onto Loughborough Road as normal but continue straight on past the Rempstone Road junction, continuing onto Castle Hill, left Main Street and then right Gotham Road to continue via normal route at East Leake shops.
- Stops labelled: “Rempstone Road”, “Kirk Ley Road Top”, Woodgate Road” and “Brookside” cannot be served.
Buses will be Hail & Ride on the diversion route in BOTH directions, please signal to the driver in plenty of time that you want their service to allow them to stop safely.
