Nottingham City Transport has presented a cheque for £1,000 to Age UK Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.
The money has been raised by selling its 140th anniversary book in its Travel Centre and online through eBay, with the book still available to buy for £2.
Age UK Nottingham & Nottinghamshire is the largest local independent charity providing a wide range of services for older people from all communities and backgrounds in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire – helping over 42,000 people last year.
NCT Marketing Manager, Anthony Carver-Smith presented the cheque to Fundraising Director, Maggie Ross and Fundraising Executive, Charlotte Ellis. He commented, “Buses are an important way for older people to remain active members of society, helping prevent isolation and loneliness by providing links to shops, friends, family and health services. We are absolutely delighted to have supported the great work Age UK Nottingham and Nottinghamshire do through this donation and thank all of our customers who purchased the anniversary book”
Maggie Ross added, “It has been wonderful to celebrate together with NCT this tremendous milestone. We are extremely thankful for choosing us to benefit from the sale of these commemorative books, and their continued provision of bus services which enable older people to combat loneliness and isolation. Thank you to all who bought a copy; your purchase will enable us to support older people in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire to love their later life!”
