Charity Bus Pull

The Strongmen are warming up! Yesterday, two of the world’s strongest men got in some last-minute training ahead of the Team World Strongman Championship 2019 happening at Motorpoint Arena Nottingham on Sunday 3 November.

Chris Morgan and Jonathan Ford got to grips with a 12-tonne double decker bus, provided by Nottingham City Transport, who are sponsoring the strongman event this weekend. The tremendous exhibition of strength is the perfect warm up to what is in store for the strongman at the championships this coming Sunday.

Chris Morgan, who will be in the Saxons team, is in a confident mood as he prepares to go up against some of the world’s biggest strongmen; “The bus pull is one of our favourite events and always goes down well with the crowd but it’s also one of the toughest. To get 12 tonnes moving uses up so much energy but to pull something like that as far as 20 metres is so satisfying!’.

Anthony Carver-Smith of Nottingham City Transport decided to get involved with the strongmen ahead of a world record charity bus pull the company is planning for March 2020. He said, “following the sad loss of a colleague to cancer, his NCT workmates are keen to raise money for cancer research in his honour and memory. It was great to pick up tips and advice from the two strongmen on our planned charity bus pull next year, which will ensure we raise a lot of money for vital research”.

A few tickets remain for Sunday’s event. Tickets can be purchased online at https://www.motorpointarenanottingham.com/Online/article/ultimate-strongman or via 0843 373 3000 or in person at the Motorpoint Arena Box Office, Bolero Square, The Lace Market, Nottingham, NG1 1LA.
