Update on the NCT Real Time System

An update on our Real Time System, 8th November 2019.
Firstly, our sincere apologies for the inconvenience experienced over the last couple of weeks, whilst we have had limited connectivity with our fleet caused by water ingress that has damaged a cable on the transmitter.
With the limited connectivity, our Control Room haven’t been able to proactively manage our network as well as they normally do, because they don’t have access to the information related to delays and reports from our drivers about accidents, road closures etc. Without full tracking, predictions at stops and online have been affected too.
We have been in regular contact with our system suppliers throughout and await a booking date for the specialist rigging team to replace the damaged cable.
As an interim measure, earlier today (8th November), the supplier has visited the transmitter and been able to transfer our signal to another antenna, which means our buses are now starting to track again and real time predictions will return to the bus stops, our website and app.
