Nottingham City Transport (NCT) has been shortlisted for the Best Public Transport Decarbonisation Award at the 2026 Decarbonising Transport Awards, taking place on 27 March 2026 at the Royal Lancaster London.
The Decarbonising Transport Awards celebrate innovation and excellence in reducing carbon emissions across the transport sector. The Best Public Transport Decarbonisation Award, sponsored by AtkinsRéalis, recognises pioneering projects in bus and rail services that advance electric and alternative-fuel technologies.
NCT has been recognised for the Nottingham Electric Bus Project, delivered in partnership with Nottingham City Council. The project has upgraded all of NCT’s single deck city network fleet to entirely battery electric, delivering projected annual savings of 3,800 tonnes of CO₂, while also reducing operational costs and maintaining high levels of passenger satisfaction.
This shortlisting highlights NCT’s commitment to sustainable transport and the decarbonisation of public services in the East Midlands.
