Charity and Community Support Policy

Adopted 1 July 2024

  1. The charity or beneficiary must be within the NCT operating network area.
  2. Donations to a charity can only be made to registered charities. 
  3. The charity or beneficiary must align with the views and ethos of NCT. 
  4. Donations and support will not be made to benefit personal or individual achievements, goals or competitions.
  5. All requests for charity and community support must be made in writing to the Head of Marketing and Projects (by email to [email protected] or to Nottingham City Transport, Lower Parliament Street, Nottingham, NG1 1GG), specifying:
    1. the name of the proposed recipient charity
    2. the amount required
    3. the intended purpose of the support or donation
    4. the benefits the support or donation would make
  6. The Company will seek representation from its colleagues on the types of charity to support through an annual poll each year. One charity will be elected as the sole recipient of fundraising and donations for:
    1. unbanked fare box revenue
    2. a raffle at its annual Excellence Awards
    3. profits from its online charitable shop, selling NCT branded merchandise
    4. the wearing of non-uniform items on published dates
  7. Where NCT colleagues undertake charitable activity or fundraising for a recognised and/or registered charity, the Company will donate £100 per participant, up to a maximum of £500 upon completion of the activity or fundraising.
  8. The Company will support and promote recognised charity fundraising events throughout the year, encouraging its colleagues to participate and will collect and make the collective payment for such events. The Company will donate £250 to these events.
  9. The Company will support a maximum of three youth sports teams which are managed by its colleagues, per annum, to a maximum of £500 per team. Priority will be given to teams and colleagues that have not been previously supported.
  10. The Company will make available 20 vouchers for a week of Easyrider travel per annum, to be donated to schools and community organisations for use in raffles and prize draws.
  11. The Company will enter into sponsorship or commercial agreements with third parties, where there is a mutual benefit for the promotion of both parties.
