Nottingham City Transport (NCT) is celebrating after being shortlisted in three categories at this year’s UK Bus Awards, as the prestigious scheme celebrates its thirtieth year.

The shortlist was announced at the Zero2 Bus Museum in Essex, which is also home to a heritage NCT vehicle.

NCT’s Driver of the Year, Paul Davies, has been shortlisted for the Top National Bus Driver award, which recognises drivers who demonstrate exceptional customer service professionalism, and a commitment to passenger safety and comfort.

Nicola Barnes, NCT’s Senior Marketing Manager, has been shortlisted for the Unsung Hero award, recognising individuals who demonstrate outstanding dedication, hard work and commitment to keeping their organization moving.

NCT has also been shortlisted in the Marketing for Growth category for its student campaign, recognising the work undertaken to engage with students and encourage them to choose public transport.

The three nominations highlight the commitment and creativity of NCT colleagues across the business, from those delivering excellent service on the frontline to those working behind the scenes and developing campaigns to encourage more people to travel by bus.

“The team at NCT is very proud that two of our colleagues have been shortlisted for recognition at this year’s UK Bus Awards” commented Managing Director David Astill. He continued “we have an enviable record with an NCT driver receiving the Top National Bus Driver award in five of the last ten years and we wish Paul every success when representing NCT this year. Nicola is our extremely hard working and effective Senior Marketing Manager, and her shortlisting is testament to all that she does. I’m confident we shall have another successful day at the awards event in London”

Alan Millar, Chair of the UK Bus Awards, said:

“Congratulations to all of this year’s UK Bus Awards finalists. Being shortlisted is a tremendous achievement and reflects the dedication, professionalism and passion shown by people and organisations right across the bus industry.

"Our finalists represent the very best of the sector, and we look forward to recognising, rewarding and inspiring with their achievements at this year’s awards.”
