National Walking Month
May is National Walking Month and there are plenty of great parks and countryside to enjoy that are easy to reach by bus with NCT.
Walking is an easy way to improve physical and mental health and a 20 minute walk can reduce the risk of several preventable health conditions, such as depression, heart disease and Type 2 diabetes.
Our Bus Detective series is a great way to get out and about with a friend or the family. Follow the clue trail and learn more about an area of Nottingham, whilst taking in parks, gardens and open space.
Here are our suggestions on where you can enjoy a good walk in Nottingham:
- Arnot Hill Park in Arnold
- Colwick Country Park
- Gedling Country Park
- Rushcliffe Country Park
- Woodthorpe Grange Park
- Wollaton Park
- Victoria Embankment
Grouprider is now £6 all day, every day and covers up to 5 people (min 1 adult, max 2 adults) and is available to buy on the NCTX Buses app or on the bus with contactless. Let the driver know you're paying with contactless and present your card/device to the reader when prompted. Cash is still accepted on bus too, with the exact fare.
For more experienced walkers, our South Notts 1, Pathfinder 26 and Sky Blue 46, 47 buses provide great access to walks in the surrounding countryside, which can be accessed with a £6.50 Adult Network Rider ticket or £9.00 for a Network Grouprider.
Suggestions for walks are available through Nottinghamshire County Council.
