Nottingham City Transport is the biggest transport provider in the City and we offer a wide range of tickets to make travelling by bus great value for money.

How Can I Pay?

We offer convenient and flexible ways to pay for your travel. Some tickets are only available using some payment methods.

You can avoid the hassle of finding cash to pay on the day by purchasing your ticket through the free NCTX Buses App on your smartphone.

Contactless

Pay contactless by using your debit/credit card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. 

For Adult Single and Day Tickets, Tap&Go by just presenting your card or device to the reader.

For all other tickets, ask the driver for your ticket before presenting your card/device to the reader.

Easyrider

Easyrider is a convenient, pre-paid smart travel card which provides unlimited all day travel across the NCT network and is the cheapest way to travel.

We offer two types of Easyrider card, with discounts for Under 19s and Students:

  • Everyday - consecutive travel days for frequent users
  • Anyday - non-consecutive days for an 'as and when' basis

If you travel with Nottingham City Transport, but sometimes have to use another bus, train or tram service, then a Robin Hood smart card is ideal.

What Zones are there?

The NCT network comprises of two zones: 

City Zone This is the Greater Nottingham area and covers nearly all of our services, except parts of the 1, 26/A, 46 and 47
Outer Zone

This is the Greater Nottingham area, and also includes all stops on the 1, 26/A, 46 and 47:

  • 1 for any journey that starts/finishes between Fairham (Nottingham Road) and Loughborough
  • 26/A for any journey that starts/finishes between Linden Grove/Carlton-le-Willows School and Southwell
  • 46, 47 for any journey that starts finishes between Travellers Rest PH and Gedling Country Park (via Lambley/Woodborough)

Adults

Tickets for anybody aged 19 and over. Concessionary passes are available from local authorities for older people and those with a disability.

Tickets for anybody aged 5 to 18 inclusive. Under 5s travel free. Proof of age required for one off verification for tickets used on the NCTX Buses app.

These tickets are available on the NCTX Buses app only.  Proof of age and being resident of Nottinghamshire is required for one off verification for tickets used on the NCTX Buses app. More here.

Students

These tickets are available on the NCTX Buses app or Robin Hood Pay As You Go cards only.  To qualify for student discount, you must present (at the time of app account registration) a valid photo ID issued by your UK college or university that shows a course expiry date. NUS Extra, ISIC and TOTUM cards are not accepted.

Groups

Grouprider offers unlimited travel for families and couples travelling together at prices cheaper than buying individual day tickets.

Covers up to 5 people, min 1 adult, max 2 adults. All customers travelling on a Grouprider ticket must board and alight at the same stop.

Discounted Grouprider for Summer School Holidays

Between Sunday 14 July 2024 until Sunday 1 September 2024 inclusive, the price will be:

These reductions are thanks to the Nottinghamshire and Greater Nottingham Bus Service Improvement Plans (BSIPs), where bus operators across the county and city are offering up to a third off group tickets over the summer period. Further details about the scheme are available here.

Dogs

Hearing and assistance dogs are carried free of charge. A £1 Dog Rover ticket is available for all other dogs and can be used for unlimited travel across the NCT network for the day.
